Kirkegård is "a garden so fair". It's roads and paths - sometimes crooked -
some light and friendly, others dark and solemn, fills the visitor with an
impression of beauty. To that, it creates a feeling of solidarity with our
country's history. Many burial plots bear names, which we remember from
history, some from past times and some from our own time.
The name Garnisons Kirkegård expresses it's attachment with our country's military history, and many burial plots bear names - from unknown fallen soldiers to high-ranking military officers - that calls to mind efforts in the military area.
The history that meets the visitor, is however not merely military history.
Many cultural characters, whom we knew while alive, or who lived before our time, and who have found a lasting place in our peoples history, have found their last resting place in Garnisons Kirkegård.
